The sound is a surprise. Very good, especially with the bass boost. The remote allows me to turn on from below the loft room where it is. I'm very happy with it. The packaging, the help from ordering staff at Lighting Universe and the delivery was excellent. My grandchild had to assemble it though, only because I'm still on a learning curve for the IPod Touch!
A caution is that this would not be good for a child's room as the halogen light could be a hazard.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
